The Hunt

Cautiously stalking the prey,
quietly creeping closer,
uncertain what it may do,
staring intently, watching, waiting.
Getting low to the ground,
without looking away,
digging in before going for the strike....

POUNCE!

Claws sink in to the soft prey.
it squeezes out of capture.
Batting it cautiously,
wondering what it is.
It wiggles, taunting, waiting,
for another attack.

Grabbing at the taunting prey.
Biting and clawing as it tries to wiggle away.
snagged on a tooth it ceases its fight,
laying lifeless on the floor.

Watching it lay,
cautious, wondering if it's really dead.
It springs to life, wiggling and flailing.
The counter attack entangles,
the pray has become the victor.

Tied and captured despite the resistance,
Pleading for surrender, release.

Laying captured in the cunning prey's trap,
sighing knowing it's lost this battle,
just wait til the next time.
